A Brampton man is charged after allegedly stealing more than $200,000 from vulnerable seniors across Canada in a four-year-long lottery scam.
Peel Regional Police said the investigation concluded last week after multiple elderly victims were contacted by phone and convinced to believe they were the winners in a lottery sweepstakes worth millions of dollars in cash and vehicles. , police said the scammer instructed his victims to send funds to cover fees to collect their prizes.A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime. The suspect was released on an undertaking order and is set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 27.
