In June, 41 per cent of respondents were most concerned about inflation; 25 per cent named health care as a key problem; 16 per cent worried about energy; 15 per cent about education; and 14 per cent cited bad government.Article content “If an election were held today, Albertans would probably elect a majority NDP government because that seems to be the option most likely to supply stable government.”
The Reid poll further states, however, that the UCP still has the best chance of winning an election and the majority of Albertans don’t want another NDP government. But Smith’s dramatic Sovereignty Act promise started pulling support from voting party members most hostile to Ottawa. The other candidates reacted by rejecting the full sovereignty option, while offering their own plans for getting tough with the feds.As a result, says Brown, “none of these candidates have been willing to make the full pivot to things Albertans really wanted to talk about.
