A second man accused of the murder of Gold Coast woman Kelly Wilkinson has been acquitted by a jury and will be released after more than three years in custody.
On Monday, Bradley Bell pleaded not guilty to murder at the beginning of his Supreme Court trial in Brisbane.
The 29-year-old was accused of aiding and enabling Brian Johnston to kill Ms Wilkinson, who was stabbed numerous times before being set on fire at her Arundel home.After four days of hearing evidence, including testimony directly from Johnston and Mr Bell, a jury took less than six hours to clear Mr Bell of both her murder and manslaughter.
The prosecution had alleged Mr Bell knew his colleague had wanted to murder his wife and assisted him in the lead up, legally making him a party to the murder.However, jurors were told if they were not satisfied beyond reasonable doubt he knew of Mr Johnston's intention, Mr Bell should be acquitted.Ilya's life savings were stolen when he transferred $280K from NAB to Commonwealth Bank.
