Still work to be done!
Snow plows are expected to start clearing side roads in Prince Edward County Boxing Day morning. Overnight, plows worked to keep the county’s main roads open.
Mayor Steve Ferguson said yesterday that all stranded motorists had been rescued as of Christmas Day afternoon but abandoned vehicles were still being located and towed away. Officially the roads remain closed in the county. Highway 401 remains open to traffic this morning but expect delays as abandoned vehicles are still being towed away.
Meanwhile, while the situation has improved, there are still close to 1,000 homes and businesses without power in Prince Edward County. Most outages are small, but larger ones continue in the Wellington, Sandbanks, and Consecon areas. The Glenora Ferry remains closed. There’s a long narrow outage affecting close to 300 customers stretching from Brighton through to north of Belleville. Hydro One hopes to have most outages repaired by tonight.
