NHL Draft eligible rearguard has six games left to claim his place in the record books
Byram bagged his 24th goal of the WHL season Sunday, racing down the left wing and going glove side on Dylan Garand of the Kamloops Blazers 0:29 into overtime for the winner in a 5-4 decision at the Langley Events Centre before an announced crowd of 4,240.
Byram’s next crack at moving into first place alone comes Wednesday, with a Giants’ visit to Kamloops. Vancouver’s at Spokane and Tri-City on the weekend, then has a road game with Seattle and a home-and-home with Kelowna next week to wrap up league play. Another case of Bowen Byram blowing by them. This latest marker showed off Byram’s skating, which is one of his signatures. Vancouver didn’t like how things were setting up in the Kamloops zone, and Byram took a feed along the right side and went back to the neutral zone for a reset. He circled, came down the left wing, and blew by Kamloops defenceman Quinn Schmiemann before snapping a shot past Garand.
