Both sides of the war between Russia and Ukraine have shown they are “prepared” to continue fighting for “as long as it takes”, according to ANU Associate Professor Matthew Sussex.

“If you’re a Ukrainian you’re prepared to go on as long as it takes because it’s your territory,” he told Sky News Australia.

“If you’re Vladimir Putin you have a kind of un-ending stream of people who you can use to mobilise and basically throw in human waves at the Ukrainians as cannon fodder.”
