Health Canada estimates 98,000 units of the affected product were sold in Canada
Health Canada has issued a voluntary recall of voluntary recall of select Bose Acoustimass, Lifestyle and Companion Bass Modules by Bose sold with select home theater systems.As of June 14, the company has received 21 reports globally of the bass modules igniting or melting including three reports of property damage. No injuries have been reported. Of the 21 reports received globally, Bose is aware that 17 of the reported incidents occurred in the United States.
Customers are urged to immediately stop using and unplug the bass module and contact Bose to arrange for a free repair of the bass module or a 40 per cent discount on a replacement product. The bass modules are black or white. The Bose logo is displayed on the product label, which is located either on the back or bottom of the bass module.
