Defence Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles says plans from the Defence Strategic Review are to give adversaries “pause for thought” when they think of disrupting Australia.

“We need to be able to hold any adversary at risk much further at shores,” Mr Marles told Sky News Australia.

“Any adversary can do a whole lot of harm to Australia without ever having to set foot on our shores at all. “We import most of our liquid fuels from overseas … right there sets a vulnerability in terms of our way of life, which didn’t exist in the mid-eighties … that’s what we need to protect.”Read More
