Ukrainian officials and reporters on the ground of the war-torn nation have disputed a new claim from the Russian forces after revenge missile strikes hit a town in the east.
President Vladimir Putin's troops on Sunday launched a strike in the eastern city of Kramatorsk, near the Ukrainian-held frontline of Bakhmut, afterMoscow claimed to have used reliable intelligence to target buildings in the area, believing its enemies forces had been housed in two college dormitories.Ukrainians officials and reporters have disputed Russian forces' claims it killed hundreds of soldiers in a revenge attack from last week's deadly missile strike.
Two reporters from Reuters later visited the region and also claimed there were no casualties, adding the two dormitories had not been directly hit or seriously damaged. A Russian statement named the buildings as College No.47 and a residence affiliated with College No.28 but the journalists found no signs soldiers had been there or bodies.
