Second body was found near Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary; police say there is no risk to the public
Saanich police have identified a body found near the Lochside Regional Trail Oct. 6 as 59-year-old Timothy Mackness, who had not been seen since Sept. 20.“Our condolences go out to the family and friends of Mr. Mackness,” said Det. Sgt. Damian Kowalewich.They are also investigating another body found Wednesday near the Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary, in the area of Douglas Street and Haynes Road.
Saanich police, forensic specialists and the B.C. Coroners Service are working to identify the man and determine the cause of death, Kowalewich said.Call the Saanich police Major Crime Unit at 250-475-4356 or 1-888-980-1919 with any information.
