MELAKA: Melaka police are investigating whether a decomposed body of a man found at an oil palm plantation at Pulau Sebang here is that of a 24-year-old reported missing in Tampin, Negri Sembilan on Sept 9.
State police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Zainol Samah said they were still waiting for DNA test results to identify the victim, who most likely died several days before and the body was discovered on Sept 16.
"A post-mortem showed that the victim had severe injuries on his head and stab wounds on his body and could have been killed elsewhere before his body was dumped here. "Police received a call from the public about foul stench from the site before the decomposed body was found in an overgrown field at the plantation," he said on Monday .He added that police were investigating the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
