Monday, the BOC said its personnel were able to block the shipment of 18 containers of smuggled red and yellow onions on March 10. The BOC’s Intelligence Group said it was tipped off that the container vans from China contained smuggled goods.
Upon inspection, it was discovered that the contents of the vans were onions instead of pizza dough and fishballs as declared in the Bills of Lading and various goods declaration, said Alvin Enciso, chief of MICP’s Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service.
