“Government has been clear that we support the addition of faculty on the board of regents. We have been working on amendments to the Memorial University Act, and will bring them forward in due course,” said an emailed statement from the department. Meanwhile, Premier Andrew Furey said on Tuesday the provincial government is not involved in the bargaining process between Memorial University and the Memorial University of Newfoundland Faculty Association .

On Wednesday, the Opposition called on the government to recall the legislature to amend the Memorial University Act.
