BMW has unveiled its all-new iDrive infotainment system at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The system represents a complete rethink on how to integrate technology into a car. The rotary controller and instrument cluster have been removed, replaced by a full-width 'Panoramic Vision' head-up display that projects driving information onto the windshield. A 3D HUD is also available for automated driving info and navigation.
The steering wheel features haptic buttons that light up when available, and the center console houses a matrix backlit touchscreen with customizable options. The system runs on BMW's new Operating System X (OS X) software, which supports third-party apps, including Zoom. Voice control is also enhanced with the Intelligent Personal Assistant (IPA), based on Amazon's Alexa. The Neue Klasse cars, starting with the iX3 replacement and the electric 3-Series, will feature these new technologies from the end of 2025
