The Barrington Municipal High School Barons Junior Boys basketball team made school history by winning the first regional championship banner on Feb. 28 for BMHS. Front row : Sam Dixon, Jace Sears, Tucker Banks, Rider Blades and Cameron MacKinnon. Back Row : Carter Devine, Camden Symonds, Malcolm Brophy, Ethan Ross, Nolan Stoddard, Carter Ross, Oliver Knowles, Crue Nickerson, Miles Beaulieu, Gavin Swim and Head Coach Wade Banks.
“With these boys, I knew that it was possible to win a regional banner. They are an amazing group of young men with high basketball IQs. They are skilled on offense and defense. They are athletic, they hustle and they play for each other. Along with their “winning” mentality, that’s a recipe for success in any sport.”
That victory placed the junior boys against Horton in the finals. The boys never looked back, defeating Horton 71-42 to capture the banner. While there was no tournament MVP provided, Coach Banks says that this team is stacked with valuable players. “Each player contributed so much to this special season. They are definitely a team to be watched in the future.”
Over the course of this past season the boys established a 27-1 record while winning three mid-season tournaments . Their only blemish was a loss in the final game of the District Championship to a hot Shelburne Rebels team.
