MELAKA: The new state executive councillors and deputies line-up is bloated with 21 members, says Dr Mohd Yadzil Yaakub.
The state Opposition chief said the appointment of deputies was unnecessary and a waste of public funds.
Dr Mohd Yadzil, who is the state Perikatan Nasional’s chairman and Bemban assemblyman, said having deputy exco members would increase the state government’s financial burden and result in overlapping of duties.Dr Mohd Yadzil said both he and Sungai Udang assemblyman Dr Mohd Aleef Yusof would remain as opposition members.
Also appointed were Kota Laksamana assemblyman Low Chee Leong , Duyong assemblyman Mohd Noor Helmy Abdul Halim , Bandar Hilir rep Leng Chau Yen and Sungai Rambai rep Siti Faizah Abdul Azis . When asked, Kerk said the appointment was the Chief Minister’s prerogative, though Kerk added that he was willing to share his experience.
