Construction camp expanded to accommodate up to 420 workers; recruitment efforts focused on hiring heavy equipment operators

A project to expand a construction camp to serve the Blackwater Gold open-pit gold mine 160 kilometres southwest of Prince George is now complete.

A 280-hectare site has been logged and cleared to allow mine construction and road access. The existing road network has been upgraded to allow better access for heavy construction equipment. When it opens in 2024, Blackwater Gold is expected to create 457 permanent full-time jobs annually over the expected 22-year lifespan of the mine, as well as 825 direct jobs per year during the construction/expansion phase.

Recruitment efforts have been focused on hiring heavy equipment operators and key workers needed to conduct earthworks activities.
