Exclusive: Total amount given to campaign groups around the UK passes £500,000 since 2020

Black Lives Matter UK have released a further £350,000 in funding to black-led organisations and campaign groups across the country, bringing the total money redistributed since 2020 to more than half a million pounds.during the summer of 2020.

The organisation said it donated to groups that stood “shoulder to shoulder” with its goals of ending the hostile environment and border controls, defunding the police in favour of investing in communities, transforming education, and supporting black arts and culture, amongst others. Lord Boateng, who was chair of the GLC police committee and vice-chair of its ethnic minority committee, said: “Its absence in intervening years has deprived the community of a valuable source of innovation and impactful community development. BLMUK grants have the capacity to make a real and lasting difference.”
