The House of Representatives has overwhelmingly passed on third and final reading the bill seeking to lower the optional retirement age for government personnel from the current 60 years old to 56 years old.
Approved during the plenary session Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 31 was House Bill No.206.
House Speaker Martin Romualdez said the proposed law gives the more than one million workers in the bureaucracy the choice to retire early. “It’s surely more fun to live life without work-related stress,” added the Leyte 1st district congressman.
