Tens of thousands of residents have been advised to listen to authorities with more widespread rainfall forecast to hit three states from the middle of the week and lift water levels in already swollen rivers and creeks.
The threatening outlook is set to cause further concern for residents living near major river systems, with some water levels continuing to rise from the deluge.

There have been a total of 3,861 requests for assistance and 140 flood rescues since the start of the weather event early last week.
