The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Friday said it is expecting up to 50,000 travelers to arrive in the Philippines for the Holy Week.
At the televised public briefing, Immigration spokesperson Dana Sandoval said there are currently 36,000 departures and 30,000 arrivals per day.
“Nakikita natin ‘yung projections po natin, tataas po yan around 40,000 to 50,000 arrivals a day nationwide. So it’s really something na nakikita natin na mas tataas pa,” Sandoval said. Meanwhile, she said that in preparation for the summer season, frontliners of the BI were not allowed to take leaves for the months of March and April.
“Perhaps defer their vacations po muna until matapos po yung peak season natin para ma-maximize po yung ating mga manpower,” Sandoval said. “Yung mga terminal heads din po, yung mga airport terminal heads natin ay ininstruct din po na i-maximize ang manpower, tutukan ng maigi ang pila,” she added.
