New South Wales Premier Chris Minns has reconvened with religious leaders to call for peace and unity in the wake of a stabbing at a Sydney church, believed to be a religiously motivated terror attack.
Premier Chris Minns has met with more than a dozen religious leaders in Sydney to call for peace and unity as citizens prepare to return to places of worship after a church stabbing on Monday.
“We’ve come together because we need to – and the message that’s being sent by these community leaders is one of compassion, understanding, cohesion, unity and most importantly peace.” During Monday’s alleged attack at Christ the Good Shepherd Church, the assailant is believed to have said: “If he didn't swear at my Prophet, I wouldn't be here... If he didn't get involved in the of my religion, I wouldn't have come here”.The incident is being treated as a religiously motivated terror attack by police.
Our prayers are with the victims and we call on our communities to extend our message of care and compassion to all.
