'Best running backs in the nation' get off on right foot in Stampeders pre-season win CFL
Fellow incumbent Dedrick Mills ran the rock five times for 17 yards, including his longest of 11.And fresh-face Ryth-Jean Giraud ended up being the high guy for the Stampeders, with six hauls for 46 yards and a touchdown.
What was impressive where both Giraud and the o-line are concerned is that most of his real estate was racked up with the Stamps protecting a lead, and his eight-yard run to paydirt in the fourth quarter turned out to be the winning points in the end. His success seemed to translate to the Alouettes, with whom he appeared in two pre-season games, scoring the winning touchdown in the final minute of play in one of those tilts, and then in two regular-season contests, amassing one carry for two yards and a touchdown, one punt return for six yards, one kickoff return for 21 yards and two defensive tackles.
The trouble is, with superstar Carey and solid backups in Mills and Peyton Logan, it is a stacked running-back room in Calgary.
