The footage reveals a wasteland of obliterated neighborhoods and landmarks charred beyond recognition.So far 53 people have been confirmed dead in the fires, but that number is expected to rise as rescue teams continue to search the rubble.Lahaina's iconic Front Street - where tourists shopped and dined just days ago - has been all but obliterated. Whaler's Locker gift store owner Tiffany Kidder Winn came upon the vehicles while assessing the damage to her store. She told Associated Press some had charred bodies inside. "It looked like they were trying to get out, but were stuck in traffic and couldn't get off Front Street," she said.Winn said the destruction was so widespread, "I couldn't even tell where I was, because all the landmarks were gone."
