After the intruder saw the resident and fled, the resident noticed an iPad and a laptop had been stolen, police say

Oak Bay police are looking for the intruder who broke into a Goldsmith Street home while it was occupied.

A basement-suite resident called police about 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 19 to report finding the intruder inside after hearing noises upstairs. After the intruder saw the resident and fled, the resident noticed an iPad and a laptop had been stolen. Oak Bay Police Chief Mark Fisher said it’s cause for concern whenever someone breaks into a residence with someone inside, “given the increased risk of a confrontation between the resident and the offender.”

The suspect is described as a white male, 30- to 40-years-old and five-foot-10 with a medium build and stubbly hair, and was wearing a black hoodie, black pants with a white stripe and red-and-black shoes.
