The legendary Ibrox captain is no fan of the video technology which he says is too often getting involved needlessly.
No excuses. We’re heading into the business end of the fiercest title battle we’ve seen in years and both Rangers and Celtic look set to do so with some big guns back from injury.
And we don’t want that. We absolutely don’t want any excuses. We want to be talking about what’s happened on the pitch football wise - creating chances, good moves, great goals, individual performances and tactics. It’s not just handballs - although they’re probably the biggest controversies - but some of the red cards being dished out are incredible. Anything can look bad in a still picture. Not just that but some decisions are taking five minutes to make. How on earth can that be clear and obvious?
The handball rule needs cleared up too. Defending is an art. But now defenders are scared. They are trying to close down shots and crosses with their arms behind their back - and THAT’S unnatural. My biggest issue on Sunday was that there had been three previous call-offs at Dens. There are problems with certain parts of the pitch. We all knew what kind of weather was coming. So why were those areas not covered? Calling the game off less than two hours before kick off wasn’t a good look. Particularly with the live TV cameras there.
