Umar Patek issued a message to Australians over his role in the 2002 Bali Bombings as he smiled and posed for selfies with friends after being released from prison last week.
Umar Patek was a leading member of the Al Qaeda-linked network Jemaah Islamiyah, which was responsible for the bombings of two nightclubs in Kuta that killed 202 people including 88 Australians.

Offer ends 31 October, 2023 The 55-year-old donned Javanese traditional headgear as he visited long-time friend and former militant Ali Fauzi at the offices of the Peace Circle. The visit comes a week after Patek was released on parole after Indonesian authorities believed he had"shown changes" from undergoing a deradicalisation program.
“For this guy to walk out free is bizarre. “We’re not happy at all, no one’s is happy about it," he said ahead of Patek's parole.
