BAGUIO CITY — This city has signed a memorandum of agreement with two government agencies to address the groundwater issues hounding the Summer Capital.The city government, represented by Mayor Benjamin Magalong, inked a deal with the National Water Regulatory Board and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Cordillera for the purpose of determining groundwater problems made worse by clandestine deep wells.
Executive Director Ricky Arzadon represented NWRB while Executive Director Paquito Moreno Jr. acted on behalf of the DENR-CAR in the MoA signing.The mayor said the city may have not been granted its long-coveted deputization to regulate illegal deep wells but its personnel are now made part of the Water Resources Utilization Section .WRUS implements specific provisions of Presidential Decree 1067 or the Water Code of the Philippines.
