A witness at the Jamie Bacon trial said Wednesday that he didn’t run away as bullets “whizzed by” his head during an attempted murder a decade ago because he knew the gunman wasn’t aiming at him.

AB also testified that Bacon wanted his former drug trafficking partner dead because Bacon was concerned about Karbovanec’s drug use and feared he was talking to police. Karbovanec survived with minor injuries.Eldred suggested in cross-examination that the shooting on a dead-end street couldn’t have been premeditated — as AB testified — because “there are many far better places in Mission to kill somebody than the end of Bench Avenue.

Eldred also suggested that with years of experience robbing marijuana-growing operations, AB would have checked out Bench Avenue in advance for security cameras.
