Bacolod City remains under ' code green ' for the upcoming midterm elections in May 2025, according to Colonel Lester Leada, deputy city director for operations of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), on Wednesday, January 8. Leada explained that their monitoring efforts are ongoing and that a meeting will be held on Friday, January 10, with the Philippine Army and other law enforcement agencies to review the current situation in the city.
'For previous elections, Bacolod City has remained in 'code green' unless there are significant changes in the political environment, including the dynamics among supporters and other factors,' he said. He clarified that a 'code green' designation indicates that the area is not a security concern and is considered relatively peaceful and orderly. Leada also noted that the meeting on Friday will cover the current situation in the city, including reports of the alleged presence of an armed group near Police Station 10. 'So far, we have not detected any armed group in Bacolod, but we cannot entirely dismiss the report as inaccurate. It could have been a group of security guards, which might have been misreported by the citizens to Police Station 10,' Leada explained. Nevertheless, he emphasized that their monitoring efforts have been intensified, and all station commanders have been directed to remain on heightened alert. Leada concluded by reiterating that Bacolod City is currently peaceful, and they are hopeful that the situation will remain stable, especially on election day
