The historic sugar bush site less than five kilometres from Parliament Hill underwent a $730,000 reconstruction.

“Of course, it was not like the real thing, but people understood,” says Meilleur, who represented Vanier first as municipal and regional councillor and later as MPP and Ontario cabinet minister. “But they missed the festival. Muséoparc Vanier assumed sugar shack ownership and festival organization duty in 2012. Now, after two years of restricted activities, the goal is a resumption of all-out fun.The “new” sugar shack is larger and fully accessible, unlike its predecessor. For safety reasons, the brand new evaporator delivered on Jan. 17 sits in a room closed off from the dining area.
