Kendra Fanconi, the Only Animal’s co-founder and artistic director, said: “Here at The Only Animal, we see ourselves as matchmakers, setting up our audience to fall in love with the natural world. We want to remind our audiences of their own wild hearts, that they are part of nature, and part of a bright future, an irresistible world, a future that we create in collaboration with natural systems.

The Only Animal has presented immersive site-specific work in places as diverse as an outside winter snow and ice setting to the Granville Island pier. Founded in 2005 by Fanconi and Eric Rhys Miller, the group has become known for its immersive, site-specific works in places as diverse as an outside winter snow and ice setting to the Granville Island pier. The company has mounted more than 30 shows and received 40 Jessie nominations, with eight wins.

Its recent show, Slime, was co-created by Tony-nominated U.K. playwright Bryony Lavery and included the voices of more than 100 animals directly threatened by the climate crisis.
