B.C. announces $150 million to fund upgrades to 911 emergency communications system

“Next Generation 911’s advanced technology will help ensure safer and co-ordinated emergency responses.” E-Comm, which handles 99 per cent of B.C.’s emergency calls, will receive $90 million to roll out the technology. Farnworth said $60 million will be provided to the Union of BC Municipalities to cover costs such as staffing, training and quality assurance.
