The developer also has more than 1.5 million square meters of commercial office space with EDGE Zero Carbon certification, which it claimed was the world’s largest office portfolio certified as complying with EDGE Zero Carbon requirements. EDGE Zero Carbon is a global green building certification developed by the International Finance Corp. To qualify, buildings must first achieve EDGE Advanced certification, demonstrating at least a 40 percent reduction in energy plus at least 20 percent savings in water use and embodied carbon in materials.
Projects must then operate using 100-percent renewable energy or verified carbon offsets, maintaining at least 75 percent occupancy for one year. Ayala Land said the sustainability efforts came as it climbed 117 places to 369th globally in TIME’s World’s Most Sustainable Companies 2026.
It was the only Philippine real estate developer included in the ranking for the second consecutive year. The property developer and sister firm Globe Telecom Inc. were also the only Philippine companies recognized on this year’s list. TIME and global data firm Statista assessed more than 5,000 companies and selected 750 based on more than 20 data points covering sustainable business practices, commitments and ratings, reporting and transparency, and environmental and social stewardship.
