A police operation is underway in the Sydney CBD after reports of a suspicious package being found in a well-known and busy building.
Officers rushed to the Downing Centre Court in the city on Friday about 9:45am where they helped escort lawyers, judges, and members of the public outside.
An exclusion zone has been set up, with Elizabeth, Goulburn and Liverpool Streets all closed off as police investigate the claim which came through a phone call. "The community is urged to avoid the area and follow police instructions. More information will be provided once it becomes available," a statement read. A âsuspicious packageâ at Sydneyâs Downing Centre this morning has put all cases on hold. Police have evacuated the building and closed the block to the public while they investigate.
