Preliminary investigations showed that the car’s driver drove at “high speed” before colliding with the officer, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority said in a statement on the same day. At the time, the officer was stationed outside the observation post at the entry of the departure car zone at Tuas Checkpoint.
ICA said that it was alerted to the accident, which involved a Singapore-registered car and a Certis Auxiliary Police Officer, at about 12.55am on Friday. Both the auxiliary officer and the driver were taken to the National University Hospital.“ICA and Certis are in contact with the family of the police officer and providing the necessary support and assistance,” it added.
