A number of Australian families in Gaza have been told to head to the Rafah border crossing with Egypt if it is safe to do so, in the hope it may be about to open to some foreign nationals.

Emergency warnings are in place for fires burning near Dalveen, The Glen, Silverwood, Cherry Gully ; Watsonville and Silver Valley in QLD.Some Australians trapped in Gaza have been advised to go to the Rafah border crossing with Egypt amid reports it may open to some foreign nationals.

The email urges recipients to "seize this opportunity to depart Gaza" if they "deem it safe to do so". It is not clear how many Australians have been told they are on the first list of persons who may be able to enter Egypt, which is not decided by the Australian government.
