David Warner was cataclysmic as he returned to bowl for Australia for the first time in 11 years during a 14-run win over Pakistan on Wednesday morning.
Warner, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne were all demolished in brief bowling cameos — but Australia still held on for a close victory in the final warm-up match before the ODI World Cup.
Pakistan leg-spinner Usama Mir impressed with 2-31 as he dismissed Warner and Mitchell Marsh after the openers had put on 83 for the first wicket. In reply, Pakistan, who lost by five wickets to New Zealand in their opening warm-up, were dismissed for 337 in the 48th over. Warner and captain Pat Cummins were surely trolling when Warner was called on to bowl two overs, finishing with 0/41 from 12 balls.
Top line bowlers Cummins and Mitchell Starc bowled just six overs each as Australia eased into its World Cup campaign.
