Duties on Ukrainian made imports will be cut to zero, Treasurer Jim Chalmers said.
The Australian Government will extend tariff relief on Ukrainian goods as part of its response to Russia's invasion of the Eastern European country.
Treasurer Jim Chalmers announced the move today after he held talks with his Ukrainian counterpart in Washington DC. The duty exemption will be extended for two years until July 2026 for goods that are produced and manufactured in Ukraine. The Australian government announced it will slash tarriffs on goods made in Ukraine. Chalmers told Ukraine's Finance Minister Sergii Marchenko that the tariff relief was a demonstration of Australia's continued support for Ukraine.
Chalmers met Finance Minister Marchenko during a gathering of G20 finance ministers and central bank governors in the United States this week. Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles earlier this month announced he plans to visit Ukraine in a show of support for the war-torn nation.
