YARMOUTH, NS – Another Nova Scotia Music Week has concluded and like the other ones held in Yarmouth before, this year’s was another success when it came to performances, networking and celebrating the province’s music industry.
“The youth conference stacked with awesome people and resources for people who are just getting started or who may be well on their way in the music industry,” Scott said. A variety of panel discussions and conferences took place, addressing such issues as inclusion, playlist competition, international festivals, and perspectives on alcohol in the music industry.
“These initiatives are very aptly timed as southwestern Nova Scotia prepares the welcome the 2024 World Acadian Congress next August.” “A lot of what we do as a host is bring in volunteers, mobilize the community and those aren’t really hard things to do when it’s music week because everybody loves this event,” Mackenzie said.
Yarmouth MLA Zach Churchill said admiration of the event runs deep, nothing when Yarmouth first hosted the event in 2009, 2010 and 2011, those early years came during the time that Yarmouth had lost its ferry service. “I feel this is a town that really turns out for it. It's been record sales this year, the tickets, the wristbands, everything has been going through the roof, so the appetite is clearly here,” he said. “Having over 100 artists from across the province come here is fantastic. And you're bringing people in from all over the world. They're spending money in the restaurants, they're staying in the hotels. It's a real economic boost.
