The death toll is expected to rise as hundreds of people remain missing at sea after a fishing vessel carrying refugees sunk, in what has become 'one of the biggest tragedies in the Mediterranean'.

The IOM have documented at least 26,924 migrant deaths in the Mediterranean since 2014 as refugees famously cross the treacherous waters. “And, already, the forces of the New Democracy are at the disposal of the Service Government. These are moments of solidarity and humanity. Saving as many lives as possible is the priority now.
