The ASUS ROG Destrier Core looks to be moving away from the usual gaming seat design to a more office-like mesh, with more adjustability too.

Chairs that are being marketed as gaming chairs have more often than not been using the design of racing seats. These look cool, but one can argue that in terms of functionality, they don't quite match some mesh office chairs. But the ASUS ROG Destrier Core, being showcased at Computex 2024, looks to move away from the racing bucket form, and focus more on functionality.

A brand rep says that the ASUS ROG Destrier Core is moving more towards the kind of design you'd expect from a Herman Miller chair. And it shows, not only in the Polyamide nylon mesh with PU foam, but also in the number of adjustments you can make with the chair. The armrest of the ASUS ROG Destrier Core, for instance, can be rotated 360-degrees, and be adjusted vertically by up to 14cm. It's much the same for the lumbar support, which can be adjusted vertically as well as horizontally. Ditto the neck rest, which has two hinges, with the rest itself getting vertical adjustability.

It all sounds pretty nice, especially if you've been hoping for a less bulky chair that's also more comfortable to sit on in hot weather. But despite a shift towards a Herman Miller-esque style, prices have not shifted in that extreme, comparatively at least. According to the company rep, the ASUS ROG Destrier Core will be priced at around US$550 , and be available globally around September.
