One of two Liberal MPs left in urban Melbourne, Keith Wolahan, says the party needs to “come to the middle” following its loss of Aston.
“Politics is about messaging, but also substance and character. Peter Dutton is a person of substance and character ... I’ve seen good and bad leaders. Peter Dutton is a really good leader. I’m confident we can do that,” he told ABC News. Wolahan said the party needs to focus on middle Australia, but said arguments the Liberals were too far to the right were “insider commentary”.
