“Hindi po totoo yung kritikal…Superficial laceration base doon sa report. Mga simpleng sugat lang. Ang sabi nga ng doktor, pwedeng hindi i-admit pero mas maganda kung makapahinga sila,” he said in a phone interview with INQUIRER.net, noting that the local government of Northern Samar shouldered their medical expenses.They were discharged from the hospital last June 26 and will undergo post-traumatic stress debriefing, he added.

“Nakalabas na po sila, nasa mabuting kalagayan na po sila ngayon pero maga-undergo pa po sila ng post-traumatic stress debriefing. Kasi sino ba namang hindi ma-traumatize dun, tapos namatayan pa sila ng Tatay,” Aragones said.Aragones, meanwhile, maintained that Meraya’s men fired upon government troops when they were about to serve his arrest warrant, prompting authorities to return fire.

He added that reports should be balanced, with both sides being presented, as not to be misinterpreted as being used as propaganda tools.
