Argonauts receiver Tommy Nield has fought through injuries in 2022, and was able to score his first CFL touchdown on Saturday.
Realizing Nield’s milestone, the two retrieved the pigskin and would hand it over to the second-year receiver.In Nield’s case, his story began on a field this off-season when the McMaster product and a buddy whom Nield routinely trains with were working out.
It took Nield until the second week of the season to reach that point where he confidently was able to run freely, allowing him to play like himself. Nield caught a pass and ran upfield to generate extra yards. He then ran into the advertisements that surround Tim Hortons Field after he was pushed out of bounds.What ensued was an injury to the same foot he hurt in the off-season.
Nield didn’t need any validation, but his touchdown on Saturday, which proved to be the winning score, did elevate his stature on the team and his profile.
