The Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday alleged that the All Progressives Congress rigged in Owo Local Government Area during the state governorship election.
The spokesman for the Eyitayo Jegede Campaign Organisation, Mr Gbenga Akinmoyo, made the allegation in a statement titled, ‘Rigging in Owo Local Government Area.’
It reads partly, “We were told that the Independent National Electoral Commission and law enforcement agents would be on top of events, but we didn’t know some people were above the law.” The statement alleged an APC chieftain moved from one unit to another in the “Owo LGA preventing people from casting their votes unless they are voting for the APC.”
However, the spokesperson for the Akeredolu Campaign Organisation, Mr Richard Olatunde, described the allegation as false, saying it was a “shameful excuse from a failing political party.” He said, “The truth of the matter is that because of the fact that the governor is from Owo, the PDP’s strategy is to continue to make spurious allegations to discredit the exercise in Owo.’’All rights reserved.
