Former Umno leader Annuar Musa questioned why Anwar Ibrahim did not have Umno’s support to become prime minister in 2020 if he really ‘saved’ the party from getting banned.

Annuar said the prime minister’s claim that he had objected to the move was false, adding that both Mahathir and Muhyiddin have denied coming up with such a plot. “Especially not Anwar, whom Mahathir specifically did not involve in his government’s affairs,” the former Umno secretary-general said in a statement.
