KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has objected to an application filed by Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor for the High Court to decide on several questions of law pertaining to the royal pardon granted to him five years ago.

According to Anwar, Muhammad Sanusi's application concerning the royal pardon, which was granted to him by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on May 16, 2018, was beyond the court's jurisdiction.

"This includes the decision to grant me the royal pardon, which directly proves that the court has no jurisdiction to do so," he said in an affidavit filed through SN Nair at the Alor Setar High Court on April 25. On March 31, Muhammad Sanusi filed an application in the Alor Setar High Court, asking the court to determine whether the royal pardon granted to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim five years ago was to set aside not only his sentencing but also his conviction.
