Anwar hopes state LHDN offices can increase revenue collection, avoid leakages

FRANKFURT, Germany (Reuters) - Portugal's talented squad led by captain Cristiano Ronaldo will be under scrutiny when they step on to the Frankfurt Arena pitch to face underdogs Slovenia in their Euro 2024 Round-of-16 clash on Monday.

GEORGE TOWN: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed hope for the Internal Revenue Board to step up revenue collection while avoiding leakages.

Also present were Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying and LHDN Chief Executive Officer Datuk Dr Abu Tariq Jamaluddin. Anwar added that he understands the difficulties and challenges faced by IRB and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department in their revenue collection duties, emphasising the need for them to be firm and professional.

"Your role must be professional and firm, and as Prime Minister, I am entrusted to defend every officer carrying out this duty," he said.
