Anthony Gismondi: The latest B.C. wine country buzz.
The nose is wildly floral and red-fruited, leading to a rush of juicy black and blue fruit, raspberry compote, and sweet wood spice. The palate is full-flavoured, but the tannins are muted by soft edges and streaked with cedar and residual cement notes. You can drink or hold this wine, but expect it to improve through 2026-27 in the bottle. Grilled beef or lamb would be my match for the moment.
99 I 91/100You can set your watch by Costamolino because year in and out, these guys deliver, and the price of the wine remains stable and sensible. The highly respected estate is on the island of Sardegna, where it concentrates on native varieties such as this Vermentino. The grapes get a light pressing, and only free-run juice reaches the fermentation tanks. The result is an overwhelmingly enticing floral aroma dusted with lemon and ginger.
